The difference between living in Zone 1 and Zone 3 - in Zone 3 you can fall out of bed and walk to the supermarket in your pajamas and no one even flinches. While this is good, I miss Zone 1, I miss being able to walk to work. |

Its getting cold again. Like... really cold. Icy pavements, foggy mornings, frozen hands (even through gloves), and sore backs from sleeping curled up in a tiny tiny tiny ball.
I think I am going to have to unpack my glorious £5 fur coat I got at Glastonbury to take to Prague as its going to be like the Arctic.
I find it funny that my work computer system blocks me looking at underwear websites.
Living in a new house which is great. Its in Angel Islington - such a good location. A mouse has followed me over, but for some reason its not as gross as when they were in the old house. I'm living with an American girl, a British man (that looks identical to Mandrew - which is creepy), and another Australian. They're all lovely. We had craft day on the weekend (which was more about making cards with Amy Winehouse riding dinosaurs) and drank lots of mulled wine. |

I had a beautiful weekend in Copenhagen, despite the cold and sporadic weather. Its such a lovely, small city. It reminds me a bit of Brisbane in the fact its lovely, but there really isn't too much to do. We ate a lot, which is no surprise. Catherine and I are eating our way around Europe. Æbleskiver (little pancake balls served with a side of jam) were very delightful. Christmas markets were beautiful to walk around in, the lights, the smell of chestnuts roasting on an open fire, drinking too much gluhwein to stay warm, but the actual stalls were all a bit 'Made in China' which was disappointing. We also thought our faces were going to fall off from the cold, but standing by open fires thawed us out. All in all, the art looked at, the music listened to, the streets walked... it was a lovely trip. UNTIL... we got to the airport on Sunday night to be told after standing in line for over an hour that our flight had been canceled, British Airlines were taking no responsibility, and we basically had to sort ourselves out as there were no other BA flights leaving that night. Eventually got on a flight this morning (and managed to only be 2 hours late for work but having trouble functioning on 4 hours of sleep) but now its the not-so-fun process of travel insurance claims of 'Emergency Travel Arrangements and Accommodation Expenses' and 'Loss of Reward Points' etc.

The mice are everywhere. Lounge, kitchen, even the bathroom now. Thankfully they've only been heard in the bedroom once.
I'm back in the habit of G and T's once Vanessa walks through the door between 5pm and 5:30pm of an afternoon. I'm only typing this now to procrastinate from the fact I can't sleep because when I close my eyes it spins.. badly. Serves me right for heading to the pub at 11pm after already polishing off a bottle of gin and some Cuban orange spirit that Ella brought home. |

Sundark on darker streets. its violent times for weary feet. carjackers and bullet showers. a yellow sign. too many fools in power but see. i will be gone by morning. my dear friend i lost a fight forget me. i wash my hands in your grey slowing night. coming down from darkened heights. i taste the thames with my cycle lights by saint paul's by big ben. by god's name, i repent. but see. i will be gone by morning my dear london goodnight forget me, i wash myself in your grey river light
last minute packing. as per usual the pub has taken preference these last few days so there is a lot to do. that lovely patrick wolf song just came on my itunes and it seemed vaguely fitting.
feeling a bit emotional about leaving really. which is a bit silly as i'm only gone for 2 months and I'm damn excited to see the australian folk. perhaps its the thought of a too-many-hours flight ahead of me thats giving me the chills. |

I have an out-of-the-blue resolution to be able to 'bend it' like Gilbert and George. |

Sun has been so rare recently that when it does come out everyone goes a little mad for it. Myself included. I should have been working from home the other day but decided to scrap it all and instead grabbed my book and a punnet of cherries and headed down to Green Park to laze about on the grass. I usually avoid sun like the plague but yesterday after work my friend and I found ourselves sunning our legs on the steps of St Pauls (which, of course, in hindsight seems a rather indecent thing to do outside a place of worship).
I'm booked to spend a few days on the Cinque Terre coast in Italy as of Monday. Temperatures are currently in the 30's. I haven't had heat that hot for some time so I hope I manage. But when its this beautiful, how could I not?

I arrive at Brisbane International Airport on the 16th of August. However, I'll be in Cairns for a bit and probably go back home for a bit with my parents before spending time in Brisbane. I'll probably come back to the UK on the 14th of October, but that's unconfirmed. |

Loving Groove Armanda right about now, just because they host the Lovebox Weekender which I where I spent my Saturday, enjoying lots of fantastic music (Man Like Me, Patrick Wolf, Mayor McCa's tap dancing mid song was hilarious, The Bees) Blondie were unfortunately quite boring. Lots of time was spent on the dodgem cars - firstly stealing stuff of each other, then it expanded into EVERYONE stealing stuff from everyone. (Hats and sunglasses mainly, but when Clay managed to get someone's beer was a highlight) Thankfully no one got my mustache.
Mustache's were mandatory. <img src="http://www.clarejulia.com/livejournal/lovebox02.jpg" /> |
